Una nueva recopilación con las 27 mejores historias del periodismo deportivo de EE.UU. y Canadá


The Best American Sports Writing es todo un clásico, una obra que ve la luz de forma ininterrumpida desde 1991 como una recopilación de las mejores historias deportivas que se publican cada año en medios de Estados Unidos y Canadá. El coordinador de esta colección, Glenn Stout, ya ha avanzado en Amazon los contenidos de la nueva edición del libro, que sale a la venta el 4 de octubre.

Como cada año, Stout elige un centenar de textos que posteriormente son cribados por un periodista deportivo estadounidense de reconocido prestigio. En esta ocasión, el invitado ha sido Rick Telander, del Chicago Sun-Times, quien ha seleccionado 27 historias de gran calidad, todas publicadas en medios estadounidenses excepto una, en el canadiense SportsNet.

En la lista vuelven a aparecer los medios que desde hace más tiempo cultivan el periodismo deportivo de largo formato como ESPN The Magazine, Sports Illustrated o SBNation, así como secciones de Deportes de medios generalistas que apuestan también por las historias largas como The New York Times o revistas como Esquire, The New Yorker o Harper's Magazine. Asimismo, destacan firmas sobresalientes como Wright Thompson, Don Van Natta Jr., Chris Ballard, Sam Borden o John Branch, algunos de los mejores exponentes del periodismo deportivo narrativo actual en Estados Unidos.
